Well Thomas. We could give everyone unlimited space and bandwidth if we wanted to be dishonest or misleading. How many other customers on your server do you think has 150Gb of space? How many hard drives do you think your host can fit into 1 server giving everyone that much space? Just questions for you, not trying to piss on your parade. But I think you should upload 150Gb's to your host and see if they like it or not. Hell, just upload the same file until your almost at the limit.

Just so you know, Your host has 1,920 other sites hosted on that server with the same ip address and all of them probably have 150Gb of space lol. I'm just saying, if you think about it for just a minute. Do you think you host has 288,000 Gb of space on 1 server or do you think it might be more likely that they are figuring that the majority of those sites will never use more than 100Mb?

From what I can gather from my host is that you are indeed correct killigan , however, I have been alloted

You don't really have 150Gb of space. Read the TOS. You get 150Gb of space but you don't get to use it. there are rules with EVERY DATACENTER on space and bandwidth. Every host gets those rules. We can manipulate them if we want. We can all bank on the idea that the majority of users will never go above 100Mb of space and bandwidth will be very low. Most hosts TOS says you cannot host a certain amount of INODES. Which is everything on your web site. Files, emails, folders, pic's and so on. Most say you cannot host files for download.

Here are a few things from the TOS that so many hosts that offer unlimited or very high disk space and bandwidth use. This is funny because it clearly shows that you will NEVER get what you think you are supposed to which bothers me personally. I tried to use the full Unlimited on a host before. Got suspended rather quick.

Examples of unacceptable material on all Shared and Reseller servers include:

* Topsites
* IRC Scripts/Bots
* Proxy Scripts/Anonymizers
* Pirated Software/Warez
* Image Hosting Scripts (similar to Photobucket or Tinypic)
* AutoSurf/PTC/PTS/PPC sites
* IP Scanners
* Bruteforce Programs/Scripts/Applications
* Mail Bombers/Spam Scripts
* Banner-Ad services (commercial banner ad rotation)
* File Dump/Mirror Scripts (similar to rapidshare)
* Commercial Audio Streaming (more than one or two streams)
* Escrow/Bank Debentures
* High-Yield Interest Programs (HYIP) or Related Sites
* Investment Sites (FOREX, E-Gold Exchange, Second Life/Linden Exchange, Ponzi, MLM/Pyramid Scheme)
* Sale of any controlled substance without prior proof of appropriate permit(s)
* Prime Banks Programs
* Lottery Sites
* MUDs/RPGs/PBBGs
* Hateful/Racist/Harassment oriented sites
* Hacker focused sites/archives/programs
* Sites promoting illegal activities
* Forums and/or websites that distribute or link to warez/pirated/illegal content
* Bank Debentures/Bank Debenture Trading Programs
* Fraudulent Sites (Including, but not limited to sites listed at aa419.org & escrow-fraud.com)

INODES
The use of more than 250,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in a warning first, and if no action is taken future suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 100,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid over-usage, however databases will still be backed up. Every file (a webpage, image file, email, etc) on your account uses up 1 inode.

Sites that slightly exceed our inode limits are unlikely to be suspended; however, accounts that constantly create and delete large numbers of files on a regular basis, have hundreds of thousands of files, or cause file system damage may be flagged for review and/or suspension. The primary cause of excessive inodes seems to be due to users leaving their catchall address enabled, but never checking their primary account mailbox. Over time, tens of thousands of messages (or more) build up, eventually pushing the account past our inode limit. To disable your default mailbox, login to cPanel and choose "Mail", then "Default Address", "Set Default Address", and then type in: :fail: No such user here.

And just for fun I thought I would add in the idea of backup's. Your host gives 1920 people 150Gb of space using 288,000 GB. We thought it was hard enough since it was 288,000 Gb on 1 server, however, they also offer backup's right? i mean, most good hosts offer weekly or at least monthly backup's. So now we have to backup 288,000 Gb of space making the server total or backup server 567,000Gb. Do you realize how long it would take each week for your server to backup all that data? Your server would run slow as hell and probably loop into the next backup.

So the way around this for hosts is simple.

Backup Limit
Any shared account using more than 20 gigs of disk space will be removed from our off site weekly backup with the exception of Databases continuing to be backed up. All data will continue to be mirrored to a secondary drive which helps protect against data loss in the event of a drive failure.

Now, these all came from one of the largest and most well known web hosts on the net. They offer unlimited everything and as you can see, you will never get unlimited ANYTHING!

I guess for me I would use a host that is honest from the start. Says what you get and you get it. Not what you get and have to read small print to find out you don't get unlimited space or bandwidth.

As for you domain. Pick one on your own. I have no clue about what you want or what type of sites your using. so pick something you like and use it.

To answer you killigan , I have some 8GB of data on the server at the moment...

I know it's a long way yet, but you may have a new customer in January then killigan - as I just mentioned on another thread - wont be renewing with current crappy host. It would be great to have customer service that actually understands the needs of phpnuke cms. Is your transferral system simple? :)
