Hello,  i  just  installed  evo  xtreme  2.0.9d  on  a  test  folder  and  i  was  working  on  a  new  template,  then  i  saw  that  i  have  a  problem  with  the  Forum  Module:

every  time  i  try  to  open  the  forum,  i  get  a  eternally  loading  on  browser  and  after  10  or  15  min  of  loading  i  get:
 Gateway  Time-out
The  gateway  did  not  receive  a  timely  response  from  the  upstream  server  or  application.

sometimes  it  gaves  me  error  500...

if  i  check  the  server  error  log  that's  the  result:
Timeout  waiting  for  output  from  CGI  script  /web/htdocs/www.***.com/home/NEW2/modules.php

sometimes  the  forum  loads  after  15  min  and  after  that  it  works  without  problem  util  i  open  some  forums  page,  then  i  got  the  same  problem  again...  expecially  after  deleting  the  cache...

 i'm  on  PHP5.3.29

Is  this  on  a  local  or  on  a  web  host?
You  really  should  look  at  upgrading  the  PHP  version  to  5.4  at  minimum,  5.6  recommended  until  the  next  release  which  will  require  PHP  7.x.

on  the  host  i'm  running  the  mainsite  wich  doesn't  support  php5.6  yet..

BUT  i  already  tryed  and  updated  to  php5.6  for  test  and  the  problem  is  still  there!

 after  some  days  of  testing:

  • -  i  removed  all  my  mods  from  the  base  nuke,

  •
  • -  set  a  standard  evo  theme,

  •
  • -  removed  all  the  forum  tables  and  replaced  with  fresh  one

  •
  • -  upgraded  to  php5.5

  •

but  i  dind't  solve  my  problem,  the  forum  and  his  admin  panel  take  ages  for  loading  expecially  if  i  delete  the  cache  from  admin  panel..

for  example  when  i  load  the  main  forum  at  the  bottom  i  get:

Quote:
[  Page  Generation:  114.  Seconds  |  Memory  Usage:  28.85  MB  |  DB  Queries:  17176  ]

 or

 [  Page  Generation:  61.4  Seconds  |  Memory  Usage:  29.47  MB  |  DB  Queries:  17150  ]

This  is  the  site  i'm  working  on:
 Site  url

i  also  installed  a  fresh  evo  in  another  folder,  pointing  to  the  same  database  and  the  problem  is  still  there:

 fresh  version

if  i  point  the  config  to  a  fresh  db  the  forum  works  normally

found  one  of  the  offending  files:

 http://www.mm2x.com/NEW2/includes/overlib_hideform.js

 line  113:

Code: var  strRe  =  /(if\s*\(o3_allowmove\s*==\s*1.*\)\s*)/;

basically  ...  what  this  old  JavaScript  file  is  not  doing  correctly  is  properly  closing  tags  {}  ...

My  suggestion  is  to  replace  your  files  with  the  same  files  found  on  this  website.

 https://www.evolution-xtreme.com/includes/overlib_hideform.js

It  appears  that  the  forums  overlib  has  not  been  updated  in  the  evo  download  version  as  well...

same  problem  on  logged  or  not,
same  on  3  different  browser  (firefox,  Chrome  and  Edge)
after  it  loads  then  it  work  good  for  a  bit,  if  you  remain  on  a  page  and  try  to  load  another  forum  page  the  problem  appears..  try  to  go  on  ranks  or  staff,  or  member  list

 I  just  tryed:
 NEW2:

Quote:
[  Page  Generation:  186.  Seconds  |  Memory  Usage:  28.86  MB  |  DB  Queries:  17183  ]

 NEW3:

Quote:
[  Page  Generation:  45.0  Seconds  |  Memory  Usage:  13.52  MB  |  DB  Queries:  1545  ]

why  it  should  load  all  those  queries  if  the  forum  is  empty?
 CoRpSE  also  saw  the  problem...

 sent  you  a  PM!  :)

btw  i  was  thinking...  i  have  17073  registered  users  in  that  database  and  when  the  bug  comes  it  executes  17xxx  DB  Queries...  can  this  be  the  problem??  but  why  the  forum  exectues  all  those  queries  on  all  registered  users??

the  only  thing  i  am  finding  that  could  trigger  that  type  of  query  count  on  users  is  if  the  "LIMIT  1"  was  not  being  recognized  in  the  DB->query  ...

are  you  using  MYSQL  layer  or  MYSQLI  layer?

 function  get_db_stat(

this  function  can/does  run  large  sql  queries  depending  on  which  SQL  layer  is  being  used  ...  (  especially  on  case: newestuser  )  ....  it  should  be  SELECT  MAX(user_id

aside  from  that  ...  i  really  do  not  know  of  much  else  that  could  run  massive  sql  queries  on  a  non-modified  install  ...

Yes,  You  have 17073  registered  users,  Nuke  is  not  really  designed  to  accommodate  that  many  users.  From  what  i  can  see  in  your  database,  Quite  a  large  majority  of  the  accounts  are  fake/spam  accounts,  You  need  to  find  a  way  to  cache  the  user  information  from  the  database,  This  way  the  site  will  not  been  doing  a  massive  amount  of  queries  to  the  database  on  every  page  refresh.

just  because  i  strongly  disagree  with  kicking  the  can  to  a  later  date  on  this  issue  (  anyone  with  15k+  members  )  would  have  this  issue  ...  as  well  as  these  forum  members  are  constantly  being  pruned  which  just  causes  even  more  issues  as  time  goes  by  ....  lets  see  if  we  can  create  a  more  permanent  solution  ...

I  do  agree  with  LoneStar  about  using  Zend_cache  to  store  account  data  (  its  just  a  hell  of  a  lot  faster  )....

however,  lets  first  see  what  exactly  is  kicking  off  the  cause  of  the  drag  ...

 Test  Scenario  ....

 file:  modules/Forums/index.php
(on  or  around  line  number  146  )

 look  for:

Code: $newest_userdata  =  get_db_stat('newestuser');
 and  change  to:

Code: $newest_userdata  =  array('user_id'=>2);

lets  see  if  that  get_db_stat(  function  is  the  actual  culprit  of  the  problem  ....

If  it  is,  than  the  page  load  on  the  forum  index  will  be  a  lot  faster....  and  we  have  only  modified  1  file  &  1  line  if  not  ...

 Report  back  the  behavioral  results.
