After  digging  into  them,  it  seems  that  they  were  only  cookies,  not  spyware  although  some  were  registered  as  spyware.

Thankfully,  I  have  deleted  them  all,  now  lets  hope  the  retards  dont  compromise  my  FTP  logins  again  now  that  I  am  using  SD  on  my  system  as  a  permanent  feature  now.

Thanks  for  your  help  in  resolving  this  issue.

Meanwhile,  I  have  asked  someone  who  knows  alot  about  .htaccess  files  and  he  says  that  the  .htaccess  was  coded  to  be  a  "harvester  of  sensitive  data".  Â In  your  opinion,  is  that  the  case?

In  the  meantime,  I  would  like  to  express  my  apologise  for  any  posts  that  I  made  in  this  topic  that  my  have  been  missconsrude  as  aggressive,  but  I  would  like  you  to  understand  that  I  wanted  the  issue  to  be  resolved,  and  to  start  was  not  getting  very  far.  Â Also,  now  that  I  have  resolved  the  issue,  I  would  like  one  of  you  to  PM  me  to  tell  me  what  FTP  access  details  you  want,  also,  I  would  like  you  to  register  on  my  site  (STAFF  ONLY)  so  that  you  may  provide  support  in  the  future  should  I  need  it.  Â Each  of  you  will  have  your  own  admin  account  for  the  site  itself  and  I  will  only  allow  1  FTP  login  due  to  previous  issues  as  this  topic  shows.  Â That  way,  I  will  be  able  to  narrow  it  down  further,  not  that  I  believe  you  would  do  anything,  but  its  better  to  be  safe  than  sorry.  Â Anyway,  let  me  know  by  PM.  Â Travo  is  already  registered.

That  would  be  an  opinion.   Actually  PC  Tools(Spyware  Doctor  w/  Anti-virus)  is  GREAT  at  catching  virus.   Not  to  mention,  the  virus  definition  file  is  updated  daily,  and  sometime  multiple  times  a  day.   Norton  and  other  "big  names"  updates  their  virus  definition  file  MAYBE  once  a  month  or  week...

And  FREE  ones..   Think  about  how  they  make  money  to  offer  a  free  scanner....??
Its  called  companies  pay  them  to  ALLOW  their  spyware/malware  to  be  skipped  by  their  scanner.   Don't  believe  me,  look  around,  you  will  find  out  the  hard  way.

 Vic,

It  is  opinion  founded  the  hard  way,   Smile

Malawarebytes  is  used  by  most  techies  I  know  to  get  rid  of  Trojans  (At  No  Charge)  and  even  virus  writers  encrypt  that  website  address  into  the  code  to  stop  you  downloading  MB.

Try  it....  You  will  see  what  I  mean,  it  leaves  Norton  and  Spyware  Doctor  standing  ...  as  the  last  infection  I  dealt  with  was  only  cured  by  MB,  and  they  had  Norton  as  their  virus  scanner  and  firewall  ??

I  deal  with  over  30-40  virus  attacked  PC's  in  work  every  week,  and  85%  +  infections  are  the  result  of  trojans,  ok,  some  you  just  cannot  eradicate  in  full  and  you  have  to  re-format,  but  the  majority  are  cured  by  Malawarebytes.  BTW  I  dont  work  or  act  as  an  agent  for  MB  either  ...  and  some  advice  is  worth  listening  to...  Wink

I  don't  trust  any  antivirus/malware  programs...you  can't..  not  even  my  favorite  one  (NOD32).  Viruses  come  first,  protection  comes  later  and  there  is  not  one  type  of  antivirus/malware  program  that  will  ever  be  ahead  of  the  viruses.  The  only  true  way  to  protect  your  PC  from  the  internet  uglys  is  to  unplug  the  damn  thing...lol  I  hope  no  one  relies  on  1  type  of  scanner  because  if  you  do  it's  a  false  sense  of  security...

Well,  I  have  reformatted  and  re-installed  everything,  just  to  be  safe  as  an  extra  security  precaution.

I  dissagree  with  tsac,  I  have  been  a  Norton  user  since  2004  and  it  has  caught  many  viruses  including  the  email  worm  "W32.Alcra.C"  which  is  a  particularly  nasty  virus.  Â It  infects  all  the  files  on  your  PC  so  that  evertime  you  start  something,  say  "Microsoft  Word"  it  will  also  run.  Â Its  a  real  pain  in  the  glutius  maximus,  and  I  found  out  the  hard  way.

Indeed  Vic,  it  is  an  opinion,  one  I  share,  but  I  do  trust  Norton,  not  fully,  but  mostly  since  I  have  used  it  for  some  10  years  now.  Â I  have  recently  obtained  the  system  you  see  in  my  sig  as  a  replacement  to  my  XPS  which  the  graphics  card  repeatedly  failed,  and  I  must  say,  this  thing  is  awesome.

I  am  getting  the  500  error  again  after  migrating  to  another  server...

The  list  of  IP  addresses  is  awfully  long  and  I  cannot  understand  why  it  worked  on  2  previous  identical  servers  but  not  this  one.   Most  of  the  IP's  that  attempt  to  spam  my  site  and  they  are  all  banned.  The  500  error  has  returned  and  am  baffled  as  to  what  code  is  causing  it  and  what  I  can  do  to  fix  it.   On  a  side  note,  when  I  remove  the  IP  addresses,  the  site  works,  but  wont  with  them.   Ideas?

I  want  the  IP  addresses  to  remain  as  it  keeps  the  spamtards  off  my  site!

 **EDIT**

Changing  the  .htaccess  file  name  has  made  my  site  work,  but  the  bans  are  not  in  effect  anymore,  and  its  not  the  long  list  of  IP's  doing  this  as  I  removed  the  long  list  and  it  still  did  not  work!

Talk  to  you  host  Thomas.  There  is  something  is  your  .htaccess  file  that  is  conflicting  with  their  server  setup.

They  seem  to  be  claiming  that  it  is  my  .htaccess  file,  but  they  wont  say  what  it  is...

Would  you  like  me  to  PM  you  a  copy  so  you  can  see  it  for  yourself?   I  would  like  to  point  out  that  it  contains  a  lot  of  banned  IP  addresses,  primarily  from  spamtard  countries  like  Russia,  Latvia  and  Nigeria.   It  was  working  fine  till  the  migration  to  my  current  server,  I  fail  to  see  why  it  would  cause  a  500  server  error!

Speaking  of  which,  I  still  have  to  set  up  an  FTP  account  for  staff  here,  Developers  mostly,  and  yes  Killigan,  that  includes  you!
